(Scroll down for video) New York police are looking for an Orthodox Jewish Brooklyn man after killing his wife because she was casting spells on him, according to a statement released by the New York Police Department.
The decomposing body of an Orthodox Jewish woman was discovered in a house in Brooklyn Monday night, along with a note saying that the victim had been casting spells on her husband.
The woman, 57-years-old, was found by police in response to a report of a bad smell coming from the house on Avenue N in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, just before 7:45 pm.
Authorities found the victim's body in the basement in a severe state of decomposition. It was estimated that she had been dead for at least a week.
Police said she had been stabbed several times in the back.
The deputies found a note on her body, supposedly written by her husband, claiming she was casting spells on him.
The detectives were looking for the husband, who has not been seen recently. As a result of the ongoing investigation, a person of interest has been arrested, but police have not revealed who that person was.
Police have so far not released the identity of the woman pending family notification.
