A Victoria’s Secret employee allegedly had a well thought out scheme to become rich by stealing from her employer.
The Victoria’s Secret employee, Jacqueline Garcia, 22, of Texas, was arrested last week after stealing more than $1 million from the company over the past year.
Garcia allegedly falsified cash transactions averaging $10,000 to $20,000 per week for a period of 11 months, police said.
Garcia reportedly worked at Victoria’s Secret since 2009 and currently holds the position as the store’s manager.
After conducting an internal investigation, the employer detected suspicious transactions by Garcia. The theft was reportedly discovered during an internal audit. Police investigators met with loss prevention employees of Victoria’s Secret.
The investigation revealed that Garcia had been stealing money from the cash register and disguised her actions by conducting fictitious sales, police said.
Garcia was arrested on a first-degree felony theft charge. She was freed after posting $5,000 bail.
