(Scroll down for video) A thief was busted after she became stuck in the ceiling while attempting to escape, according to a statement released by police in Massachusetts.
After the employees confronted the thief in the Chelsea grocery store, she tried to escape through the roof.
Store employees said they saw the 26-year-old Laura Balm of Bedford, put products into her bag and trying to hide it under a basket. When they faced Balm, she went into the manager's office. Apparently, she pulled a knife on the manager. He managed to wrestle it away and that's when she tried to escape through the roof.
"She looked like spider woman," a witness said.
Officials said after being confronted by Market Basket employees, who threatened to call police, the woman came up with an unconventional exit plan.
"I saw the hole where she pulled herself up. She looked like a little rat chewing through the roof," Anthony LaFauci, a Market Basket employee said.
The plan did not go as she wanted after she got stuck in the roof. Firefighters were called in to remove her.
"She had moved around all over the roof trying to escape. Finally, she ended up stuck in a wall," Captain Ed Buckley of the Chelsea Fire Department said.
Balm was finally arrested. She faces several charges, including theft and assault with a deadly weapon.
