(Scroll down for video) The New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, came under a poison ricin attack, according to a statement released by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
Federal investigators are trying to figure out who sent the two threatening letters laced with the deadly poison ricin to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and his gun control group in Washington D.C.
Authorities said that officers who responded to the letters suffered minor injuries. Nobody was seriously hurt, but now, a joint group against terrorism, including the FBI and the New York City police, are investigating.
Bloomberg spoke to reporters shortly after the poison letters became public.
"No, I'm not angry," Bloomberg said. "Some people, I would say, do things that may be irrational, things that are wrong, but it's a complex world out there, and we just have to deal with that," he added.
On Friday, a worker at a mail center in lower Manhattan intercepted a letter to Bloomberg that was laced with ricin, a highly toxic poison.
Another tainted letter was discovered two days later in Washington D.C., in a building that houses Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a nonprofit group launched by Bloomberg. That envelope was addressed to the director of the group, Mark Glaze.
The letters were stamped in Shreveport, Louisiana, with no return address.
The substance contained a pink-orange grease, and each letter threatened physical harm against the Mayor and referred to his stance on gun control.
A police said that the letter to Bloomberg said something along the lines of "this is a sample of what is to come if you come to take my gun."
