Firefighter perfume |
If you like the smell of a smoking house you don’t need to start a fire or look for burned items.
A new perfume hit the market that makes its user smell like a firefighter.
A perfume manufacturer in New York, came up with the unusual idea after the Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people.
Demeter Fragrance Library CEO Mark D. Crames said: "We have an unusual approach to fragrances, we are constantly looking for things that resonate with consumers. We originally wanted to create a perfume for the fire department in New York, but after the events of Boston, we decided to adopt the perfume for the Boston Fire Department."
The new perfume is made of spices and flowers, but also has hints of smoke and rubber.
It is sold in two bottles of different sizes, ranging from $20 to $39.
Demeter said that 75 percent of the proceeds will go to the Boston First Responders Fund.
There has been a mixed reaction among consumers to the unusual odor.
"For me, it's a little offensive to try to put the tragedy in a bottle. Rescuers were not only firefighters, but also police officers and marathon goers," one consumer said.
Meanwhile others have described the scent as “a wonderful scent" and "just very unique."
This is not the first unusual fragrance that the company has produced. Last year, the company put out to market perfume that smells of sushi.
