(Scroll down for video) Two men were arrested and charged with rape related charges after the woman was allegedly too drunk to consent to sex, according to court proceedings in Ohio.
The woman who accused two Steubenville, Ohio, football players of rape last summer was so drunk she could not have consented to sexual activity, a prosecutor told the jury during opening statements this week.
Special prosecutor Marianne Hemmeter said that quarterback Trent Mays, 17, and wide receiver Ma'Lik Richmond, 16, allegedly took advantage of the victim because she was too drunk to say no.
The football players are accused of using their hands to rape the girl in West Virginia last summer, first in the back seat of a car and later in the basement of a house where a high school alcohol party was underway.
Attorney, Brian Duncan, disputed the prosecutor's statement. "Any sexual activity was consensual," he said.
Richmond and Mays have denied the rape allegations and their lawyers said that they have been told that any sexual activity between the two Steubenville High School football players and the girl was consensual.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
