An Orthodox Jewish New York Police captain was arrested and charged with assault related charges after beating his wife during an argument, according to a statement released by the New York Police Department.

The police captain was arrested early today after he repeatedly struck the door on his wife's arm after fighting about letting their child walk the family dog.

Daniel Sosnowik had an argument with his wife, 52, at 11:00 pm at his residence in Marine Park, whether to allow the 12-year-old boy to take out the dog late at night.
The victim said that it was too late for the boy to walk the dog, and after fights, he told her to leave the room.

He began to yell in front of his son, and pushed her between the door and the wall, according to a criminal court complaint.
He then repeatedly kept slamming the door on his wife’s arm, the complaint stated.

He was arrested at 5:30 am, and charged with two counts of assault, menacing and harassment.
Sosnowik was released without bail this afternoon, and a protective order was issued to his wife and son.

“It is shameful for any man to act in such a manner, especially for a police captain. He should be fired from all his positions at the New York Police Department, and he should face the same punishment as any New York resident would have faced,” Kim Carr, 38, of Brooklyn, New York told YourJewishNews.com after being asked to comment on the arrest of the police captain.

The captain joined the NYPD in 1984, and works in the Police Academy.
The man developed training programs for the police, and is commander of the Leadership Training in New York.
