A family was left with many questions after their pet donkeys killed their father.

The remains of the 65-year-old farmer was found mauled to death in Magyarorszag, Hungary.

Sandor Horvath died after his donkeys dragged him off his scooter then trampled and mauled him so severely that when his body was found, it was speculated that he has been maimed by wolves.

Horvath's brokenhearted daughter, Csikos Darda, said that in recent days she had some concerns about the behavior of the animals. "I had noticed that the donkeys were becoming more aggressive and I had asked my father to do something about it, but he had said they were fine," she said.

On that fateful day, the farmer reportedly was chased by the donkeys. He took off on his scooter, but sadly, the donkeys caught up with him and killed him. The remains of his body were found by the farm owner, who called police, believing that his friend had been attacked by wild dogs.

However, an autopsy revealed that the injuries were caused by donkeys. A police investigation revealed that the animals had chased the man and dragged him off the bike before killing him.

“I am very surprised by the incident because donkeys are known to be friendly to people, they are not usually aggressive towards people, just like people sometimes snap, harm, or kill others, animals can also snap for one reason or another,” Doris Reyes, 50, who has donkeys on her farm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin told YourJewishnews.com after learning about the incident.

The two donkeys have since been euthanized. A police spokesperson said: "We cannot allow animals to go around killing people. Putting them to sleep is best for everyone."
