| Amanda Bynes under arrest in New York |
(Scroll down for video) Amanda Bynes was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession related charges after she threw a bong out from her New York City apartment window, according to a statement released by police in New York.
The building staff at “The Biltmore” located on West 47th Street called police after they saw the embattled former television star smoking marijuana in the lobby of the luxury building around 7:40 pm.
Officers arrived at the building, went up to the 36th floor and entered Bynes’ apartment, only to find the once Nickelodeon actress under the influence and smelling of marijuana.
Frightened by the surprise visit, Bynes suddenly pulled out a foot long bong and threw it out the window, while police watched.
Luckily, the bong did not hit anyone on the street. Witnesses later saw a police officer and a maintenance worker working to collect the broken bong pieces.
"Pray for her," a resident of “The Biltmore” said. "She needs help. She is crying out for help," she added.
Another neighbor said he saw Bynes go crazy in the lobby for the past several weeks.
"She was always yelling at the doorman when she was coming and going," the neighbor said.
“She should be ashamed of herself. Many children look up to her and she is setting a terrible example. Hopefully, this drug addict will not get hired again to act in another movie,” Kathy Norman, 27, of New York City told YourJewishNews.com after being asked to comment on the Amanda Bynes arrest.
Police charged Bynes, 27, with reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana, police said. She was taken to Roosevelt Hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, police said.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
