Iran has killed several people it deemed a threat to its regime, according to statements made by Iranian public officials.

Iranian officials said that the authorities have executed two men convicted of spying for Israel's Mossad and the U.S. intelligence agency CIA.

Specifically, Mohammad Heidari, who was accused of providing classified information to the Mossad in exchange for money, and Kourosh Ahmadi, who allegedly gave the CIA intelligence on Iran, were hanged.

Officials did not reveal when the men were arrested and charged, or when they had a trial.

Iran occasionally announces the dismantling of U.S. and Israeli spy networks in the country and announces arrests of people on charges of spying.

Tehran accuses Israel and the U.S. of spying on their vital interests, particularly its nuclear program, which the world suspects is aimed at producing an atomic weapon. Tehran denies the charge.

“Having spies on the ground in Iran is extremely important to the United States and Israel, I hope future spies will be more careful not to get caught,” Edna Hamilton, 33, of Keene, New Hampshire told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the execution of spies.

Israel and the U.S. have not ruled out a military option against Iran's nuclear facilities.
