Ann Dismorr with Palestine map

A United Nations agency has caused a firestorm after an official of the organization proudly posed with a map that only lists Palestine.

The U.N. official posed with the map in which Israel did not exist in Lebanon, and the whole area from the Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea was listed as "Arab Palestine."

During a presentation of German-funded projects in Lebanon earlier this month, Ann Dismorr, the director of the United Nations Agency Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in Lebanon, held up the map which included Jordan, Syria and other neighboring countries, but forgot to name Israel.

The map listed "Arab Palestine", showed an image of the Palestinian flag, special sites in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, along with the cities on the Israeli side of the 1949 armistice lines as Beersheba, Acre and Tiberias.

The project of UNRWA in Lebanon, which will spend $4.5 million to improve the water supply network and rehabilitation of shelters at Camp Rashidieh, was sponsored by Germany. The UNRWA website stated that a number of Lebanese and Palestinian high ranking officials were present during the ceremony.

“The United Nations has again shown its bias against Israel. Why do they even have a map without Israel on it? This is outrageous. The U.N. official should resign immediately and the United Nations should issue an apology,” Alexander Daniel, 40, of Baltimore, Maryland told YourJewishNews.com after seeing the U.N. official with the Palestine map.

Created in 1949 to help Palestinian refugees, UNRWA has been criticized by Israel and the U.S. for backing terrorist organizations and causing more harm than good.

In 2010 the Canadian government cut funding for the organization, saying that any money should be transferred to the projects in a more responsible way.
