Chicken in diapers |
(Scroll down for video) A farmer was fed up with the chicken poop in her house so she invented a new product to help her manage the mess.
As urban chicken farms grow in popularity, many people are bringing chickens into their homes. The problem is how to keep the home clean.
When Julie Baker, a farmer in Claremont, New Hampshire, allowed her backyard birds to spend more time inside her home, it was tough to keep it clean. So she got innovative. She sewed custom-sized chicken diapers. One thing led to another, and eventually, a business was born.
Now Baker's Pampered Poultry business ships out about 50 to 100 diapers a week to farmers and chicken lovers around the country. Baker invented chicken diapers to avoid the horrible mess of chicken droppings on the floor, while the chicken’s are kept in high fashion.
“I like the chicken diapers, as I have chickens on my farm and they sometimes make their way into my house. With the diapers, I no longer have to worry about them making a mess all over my house, although changing the diapers is not very pleasant,” Karen Evans, 46, of Boise, Idaho told YourJewishNews.com when asked to comment about the chicken diapers.
“Our chicken diapers are not just for the fashion. They offer you and your home protection against the inevitable. Our diapers fit comfortably and allow you to enjoy your birds in the house or car without worry. Diapers are sold for $12.50 each,” the website states.
