Jewish soccer player in London racially abused again

(Scroll down for video) A Jewish soccer player in England was racially abused again just weeks after the previous incident.

The English Chelsea Football Club has asked police to investigate the latest incident of anti-Semitic abuse directed at Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun.

Benayoun, who has been the victim of anti-Semitic insults in the past, underwent verbal abuse by fans of his own team when he entered as a substitute against Liverpool.

In the most recent incident, the Jewish midfielder was once against the target of anti-Semitic abuse on the social network Twitter, after a message containing profanity and referred to him as being Jewish was posted as a reply post in which he thanked his followers for birthday greetings.

“The most important behavior taught in sports is having respect towards opposing team players, so it only makes sense for fans to respect their own team players regardless of their religion or race. This problem needs to be resolved quickly before it spirals out of control again,” Elida Madsen, 43, of London, England told YourJewishNews.com after the latest anti-Semitic attack.

"There are some good people in the world," Benayoun wrote in response.

Chelsea FC Football Club is investigating a disturbance during Sunday's game, in which a Jewish soccer player, Yossi Benayoun, was racially assaulted by the team's own fans.

Benayoun was the target of anti-Semitic jeers and insults, when he entered as a substitute during the team's game against Liverpool on Sunday.

The most recent racial taunts was perceived as excessive, crossing a line that made ​​many people watching the game uncomfortable, causing team officials to launch an investigation.

Benayoun tweeted to fans saying that he is confident that team officials will resolve the situation.
