A lawyer was charged after she dropped an ugly remark in her office in front of other employees against Jews, according to proceedings in London, England.
The lawyer has been accused of discrimination after she blurted out: "I cannot stand the Jewish people," in an angry diatribe at her office.
After a more than three-year investigation, Danielle Morris, 34, has been fined $3,300 by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or SRA and was ordered to pay an additional $6,900 in other costs.
The court issued more disciplinary sanctions, ruling her comments were "stupid, ignorant and malicious.”
Morris was taken to court after a Jewish employee overheard her offensive comments, which apparently came after she was upset that a Jewish man jumped the line at the doctor's office where Morris had taken her child for an appointment.
"'Please do not say that," the employee who heard the comment told Morris.
Morris responded to the complaint by saying: "I do not care, cannot stand them," according to the panel proceedings.
Five days after the incident, the employee of the law firm brought a racial and discrimination lawsuit against Morris.
“As a lawyer she should have known better, that is really all there is to say about this. I am glad that Morris was punished for making her stupid comment,” Sarah Banks, 45, of London, England told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the incident.
