| Muslims throwing stones at Jews |
Clashes broke out between Israelis and Palestinians after a Jewish owned vineyard was torched by Palestinians, in the Israeli controlled West Bank city of Har Bracha, according to a statement released by the Israel Defense Force.
Har Bracha residents and residents from the nearby community of Givat Ronen, tried to put out the flames.
Several Israeli residents of the area began to march to the Tomb of Joseph in Nablus. They were arrested by IDF forces in an attempt to avoid a confrontation between Muslims and Jews.
Despite the efforts of the troops a clash broke out between Muslims and Jews outside the Arab community near Kfar Khalil. Soldiers of the IDF intervened and detained six Jewish men. Two of the detainees lost consciousness and received medical attention. It was not immediately known if their loss of consciousness was due to the smoke inhalation or by the fighting.
Several Muslims in the area began to fight the soldiers. Agents of the Border Police dispersed the rioters.
“The Muslim residents in the area have no right to take the law into their own hands and burn Jewish property. If the have a legitimate claim they can take it up with the courts. Those behind the arson attack should be arrested and charged,” Tamera Kaufman, 60, of Be’er Sheva, Israel told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the arson attack.
Officials later released four Jewish men who had been arrested. Two remain in custody. One of them is a resident of Givat Ronen, and the other is his brother who was visiting for the day.
